Learning Activity: Geography

Have students locate Jamestown, Frewsburg, the Chautauqua Lake region, Albany, Kingston, and New York City on a map of New York State.

Students can also visit www.jamestownnewyork.com to find out more about life, the economy, geography, and leisure activities in the Jamestown area.

Students can design travel brochures or posters attracting people to this area. Students should also report about the history of this region.

Have students visit the Jackson Center website at www.roberthjackson.org to learn about its mission and to learn more about the life and accomplishments of Robert H. Jackson.

Ask students to locate Jamestown in relation to Washington, DC and to calculate the distance between the two cities.

Have students research how Robert H. Jackson and his family traveled between these cities when Jackson served in Washington, DC. Students should also locate other cities in New York State that were important places in Jackson’s life.
